Hello, this is Leo from EXS International.

いよいよ始まったバラード高生たちの日本旅行！先ずは東京を楽しみます！

大きく2コースに分け、一つは「浅草コース」、もう一つは「秋葉原コース」と好みに合わせてそれぞれ好きな方を選びます。本当はどちらも見て回れたらいいのですが、なにせ9日しかない旅行ですから全部を巡るには時間が足りません！

ボクは秋葉原コース担当だったのでそちら中心に様子を紹介します。

Ballard students’ journey in Japan starts from Tokyo. There are 2 different courses. One is Akihabara, the other is Asakusa. I wish they had time to do both but the trip is only 9 days and not enough time!

I was in charge of Akihabara group, so I’ll show you more about the Akihabara group.

秋葉原散策 Akihabara

まずは、どちらのコースも東京の恐ろしい満員電車から始まります。

Both group had to take scary rush hour train of Tokyo.

駅では先頭に並んでいたのに、すでに満タンの電車が来てぞーーーっとします。

Train was already more than full when it arrived. Very scary.

でも、なんとか秋葉原に到着しました！アニメやゲーム、趣味の街秋葉原にワクワクのみんな！

But we made it to Akihabara! Akihabara is a place for anime, games, and lots of hobbies. So exciting.

とは言え、趣味はそれぞれ少しずつ違うので小グループに分かれました。

We made smaller groups so everyone can see what exactly they want to see.

フィギアを売る店の多いこと！先生はクラスに飾る用のフィギアを買っていました。

There are many shops selling figures! Sensei got some of those for her classroom.

新元号が発表されてまだ数日なのにすでに令和グッズもありました！さすが。

It’s been only 5 days from the announcement of the name for next era, but shops were selling items saying “Reiwa”! Impressive.

東京タワー　Tokyo Tower

各グループ数時間の散策を終えた後、東京タワーで集合し、展望台を楽しみました。

After each group spent few hours at Akihabara or Asakusa, we got together at Tokyo Tower and enjoyed view from the observation deck.

とても気持ち良い晴れの日でよかった！

I’m glad the weather was so beautiful!

シアトルにもスペースニードルというタワーがありますが、展望台から見える景色はまるで違いますね。大都会東京を一望しながら日本を感じます。

There is a tower in Seattle called Space Needle, but the view from the tower is completely different. Ballard students could feel Japan from the deck.

ジブリ美術館　Ghibli Museum

東京タワーを楽しんだ後、また2グループに分かれました。今度は「ジブリ美術館」組と、「原宿／渋谷」組です。

After Tokyo Tower, we were in 2 groups again. One going to the “Ghibli Museum” and the other going to “Harajuku, Shibuya”.

ジブリは世界に誇る日本の宝物です。本当はここもみんなが行けたらよかったのですが、東京には別の楽しみもいっぱい！若者の聖地と呼ばれる原宿／渋谷や東京の中心の中心、新宿などに興味がある生徒も多数いました。

Ghibli is a treasure of Japanese culture. I wish we all could go to the museum but there are a lot more in Tokyo. Harajuku and Shibuya is very popular for young age, Shinjuku is the center of the center of Tokyo. There are quite a few students interested in those over Ghibli.

ボクはジブリ組を案内しました。ジブリアニメは大好きですが、海外のゲストを連れていくことでさらに造詣が深くなった気がします。

I love Ghibli works but I earned deeper knowledge of it by bringing foreign guests.

まとめ

すみません、自分の案内した方のグループ中心の記事となりました。しかし、こんな感じで天候に恵まれる中、皆楽しい時間を過ごしたのは間違いありません。東京の滞在がもっと長かったらよかったのですが、明日は早くも広島への移動日です。4時間以上かけての移動ですが、新幹線という大イベントも待っています。

日本に来るまでで十分長旅、疲労があるだろうけれど、そこは若い高校生たち！どんどんやってくる次のイベントを楽しみにしながら、しかし疲労があるので夜はスコーンと寝ることでしょう。まだまだ始まったばかりの彼らの冒険、引き続きこのブログでも紹介していきたいと思います！

The article was mainly with the group I lead but I’m sure they all had great time with the great weather in Tokyo. I wished that they could spend more time in Tokyo but they’ll have to go to Hiroshima next day. 4 hours on the Shinkansen, but riding Shinkansen is one of the big events for them.

They already had long trip just to come to Japan and they are very tired, but they are young! Next events coming up very quickly they can’t have time to feel tired. Just get some good sleep and get ready for the next day. Their journey has just began. I will keep posting their journey on this blog. Stay tuned!
